Yesterday afternoon the team finally arrived in Base Camp, tired and weary, but ecstatic for having finally made it! For some it was an emotional moment. At dinner time we checked everyone’s blood saturation levels. Most were fairly low which is to be expected, but two people’s levels were dangerously low so we took them to the Base Camp clinic for an assessment. One of our members was put onto oxygen and hospitalised for the night.
At dinner we decided to spend only two nights at Base Camp. It can be an incredibly inhospitable place and most of the team were relieved with this decision.
