The team left Lobuche just after 8 am and trekked into Gorak Shep. We made good time, but a few of the team members felt the effects of being above 5000 metres. Most of us were not up to climbing Kala Pattar, but Ronnie, Derick, Per and Neil felt good and set off after some tea. They made good time up to the summit of Kala Pattar at 5550 metres. The views of Everest and the surrounding peaks from the summit were breathtaking, but the icy wind forced us down after 15 minutes. What an awesome climb!
The rest of the team planned to summit Kala Pattar with Steve in the afternoon, but some bad weather rolled in and they decided to do the climb tomorrow morning. The team climbed into their sleeping bags instead.
