Carstensz Pyramid, the highest island peak in the world, is said by some to be a challenging climb with a high technical rating. It was summitted for the first time by Heinrich Harrer and three other climbers in 1962. It is known by many as Puncak Jaya, but was named Carstensz Pyramid after Dutch Explorer, Jan Carstensz, after he sighted its snowy peak. It forms part of the Sudirman Mountain Range on the Papua Province, Indonesia.
